Crawl into the back of your mind.
Take a seat here and enjoy the show.
This is a review of the things that we find,
The things that we may not even want to know.
Some of these things are quite terrifying,
But some of the terrors are worth facing.
Some of these things will send your heart flying,
While others will easily send your mind racing.
We begin by going through the things we keep
On our mind all the time, the wonderful things.
The moments that sweep us off of our feet,
The ones where we feel like queens or kings.
These are the times where we laugh without fear,
Those times when our smiles can light up the world,
When our life can't be affected by anything we may hear,
And those thoughts that can make our minds madly whirl.
Next are the times where we struggle with life.
The terrors that slowly rip us apart.
The memories that are filled with strife,
And forever send pain coursing through our hearts.
It was then that we became utterly depressed
Or insanely wrapped up in the never-ending pain.
It seemed as though terror was a permanent guest
And that we would have to suffer its reign.
But then are the memories of overcoming this issue,
The times where we do what was once thought impossible.
Now go on, quickly now, grab your tissue,
For these thoughts are the hardest, yet the most valuable.
We conquer the trials that help us to grow
And everything finally turns out just fine.
This memory concludes our mind-blowing show,
And we sincerely hope you have enjoyed your time.
Take a seat here and enjoy the show.

pain
you're disgusting.
i hope you know that every time you show your face,
i cringe, collapse into rage.
you flay my body with cutting board scissors
and laugh at the sight of my blood.
it's everywhere, staining everything.
my clothes are ruined,
splotched with your dirty curse.
i can't ignore you
when you're so persistent,
grinding me like coffee beans
to grit beneath your boots.
i'm a shipwreck. you're the bottom of the ocean,
suffocating everything.
i collapse into bathroom stalls
like a rag doll,
falling on my knees and begging for mercy.
you're the reason i have medication.
i swallow pill after pill,
but they don't let me forget you.

this is not a suicide note
what would change if i left?
would you wear your sadness
like a bullet-- raw and fresh and
slung, chafing, into solemn chambers;
or would you swallow it down
to poison your lungs,
steal your breath & dissolve
the remnants of me?
would you smoke yourself out,
a pyre of anger in one fist
smouldering with resentment--
unfueled but hot and bright and
burning our love to ashes;
or would you hang it,
trailing, coiled around your neck
where it will catch, untenanted,
on shards of me and tighten
to choke you?
would you throw in the towel
and jump, too, unfettered
without my soul;
or would you just breathe butterflies,
an exultation of relief and

Perfection.
When you look into the mirror, at your reflection...
That's it.
That's you.
That is perfection.
